Chubb safes have been running for over 200 years and are one of the most well-known brands of security safes available on the market. Their solid reputation of very high end products has enabled them to become one of the market leaders.

During their history they have provided security equipment to a variety of groups, from the admiralty during the world wars as well as to bankers and locksmiths. A family run company, it has now turned multinational and sells its safes to various countries around the world. It also recently bought out the Gunnebo group, who now falls under the chubb safes umbrella.

Below are some of the bestselling chubb safes which you may wish to consider. Remember these products usually come with a 2 year warranty:

SecureLine SecureDoc SDE-76

Coming from the SecureLine range this safe is one of the best most popular office safes being sold by Chubb. It’s dimensions of 756x555x508mm make it ideal for small office use. It also has a fire rating of 60 minutes which is quite long for a standard safe. Weighing around 130 kilograms it has fixed positioning bolts and fixing kit available if it needs to be securely fastened to the ground. There’s good reason why this one is a popular choice on the market. It offers a £1,000 cash rating and a £10,000 valuables rating.

SecureLine SecureSafe S2 PS2-61

This safe is fitted with 4 electric bolts and attached is a touchpad interface that uses numeric password access. It has dimension of 530x380x290mm making it suitable to be stored underneath a table in your home or office. It’s also relatively lightweight at only 77 kilograms, plus it has a 30 minute fire proof rating. The best part about this product is that it has a high cash rating of £4,000 and offers a high valuables rating of £40,000.

SecureLine Safe B-25K

The B-25K is a great alternative to the larger and more pricier safes on offer. It’s well designed for storing small amounts of cash and valuables and because of its size it can be easily hidden. In fact, it’s dimensions of 250x350x250mm allow this model to be just large enough to store laptops. It comes with a key locking system and fitting kit available for securely fastening it to the ground. It’s also a very useful safe for hiding because of its relatively small size. Recommended for those on a budget or if you only require a small amount of cash or valuables to be stored away.

Overall, there’s a reason why Chubb safes have been around for over 200 years and it’s because they are the market leader in providing quality, high end safes. So if you’re undecided on which brand to settle on, then stick with using Chubb safes.

Seeing your building ablaze in smoke is a terrible sight for any owner. That's why learning how to fireproof a building is so important.

Seeing your building ablaze in smoke and fire is a terrible sight for any home or business owner to see. Years of dreams and memories will disappear within a couple of hours, never for you to seen again. However, things don’t have to be this way, you can protect your house from fire and keep your valuables secure even if a disaster such as a fire were to being in your own home. The following guide below outlines what you’ll need to protect yourself from fire for your home or business.

If you really want your valuables to be secure and your house to be fireproof then you’ll need to get the following things installed into your building:

1. Smoke/heat sensors (connected to an alarm system that alerts the fire brigade)

2. Automatically closing swing doors

3. A sprinkler system with heat sensors

4. A fireproof safe

If all of these are installed correctly then you’ve just dramatically improved your chances of surviving and protecting yourself from a fire. But first you need to know a bit about each item.

Smoke/heat sensors are the easiest part of the items to buy and install. They’re cheap to buy and you just need to attach them to the ceiling, add batteries and then test them out to see that they’re working. Once this is done your can leave them and they’re ready to go.

Automatically closing swing doors are a bit more expensive and difficult to install. They’re the type of fire doors that close behind you after you enter a room. A door works great at preventing a fire because it helps to contain the fire from spreading from room to room. It’s best to allow a locksmith of professional install these attachments to the doors as they can be quite tricky to install yourself.

Sprinkler systems usually are attached to the ceiling of rooms and activate when they sense a strong amount of heat. They’re vey effective at putting out fire and whilst being slightly expensive and difficult to install they’re certainly one of the strongest forms of fire prevention.

The fireproof safe is perhaps the most important part in any fireproof system. Not only is it where you should store you most precious valuables but it also provides a strong protection against burglars. When deciding on your fireproof safe you’ll need to think about the types of items you’ll be storing as difficult items burn at different temperatures and a data or document fireproof safe should be bought accordingly. You’ll also want to think about whether you want a wall, floor or freestanding fireproof safe. No matter what you do with the rest of your fireproof system, you’ll want your fireproof safe to be the best that your money can afford.

Home Safes protect your valuables against fire, flooding and burglary. Choosing a good location & lock system for your home safe is vital.

When most people think about security and forms of protection they think of security cameras, guards, fences and locked gates. However if you’re looking to properly secure your home it’s absolutely necessary that you have a home safe installed.

A strong home safe will be designed to protect your valuables against 3 things: burglary, fire and flooding. All forms of safe are designed to protect against theft however you’ll need to check that your safe is also designed for fire and flood protection as well because these features are often not included. To overcome the flooding in a non flood proof safe you can opt to place your valuables inside a waterproof bag inside your home safe. The waterproof bag placed inside the home safe will also be necessary for fire protection. This protects the valuables from being damaged by the water from the hose and so is a necessary component in a home fire safe.

You should think about where it is you’re going to place your home safe. You want a location that is out the way which can be easily concealed. If it’s a freestanding safe then you’ll want it to be on ground that the safe can easily be attached to. If you’ve got a floor safe then it’s a good idea to move a heavy object over the safe and if you’ve bought a wall safe then placing a cover over it such as a mirror or painting is a good idea.

The added bonuses of wall and floor safes are that they’re easier to conceal, stronger and more fire resistant. However, their extra cost and difficulty with which they are installed are a downside for some.

An overlooked part of home safety and security is that you should have some sort of routine which you use with your home safe. For example, this means that every second Sunday of the month you update your data or documents and place your new items inside your home safe. This habit keeps your most sensitive and recent data and items protected and also allows you to check that your previous valuables are still present.

You’ll also need to figure out what type of locking system you want on your safe. The traditional key and locking system is being slowly replaced by the more electronic and digital home safes. The advantages of these are that if the key does become lost, a locksmith is needed to create a replacement and also electronic home safes can easily be reset and told to as many people as the owner wishes to do so.

Thinking of protecting your home or business? A major concenrs is fires, that's why a fireproof safe is so invaluable.

If you’re thinking about protecting your home or business then one of your primary concerns should be fire prevention. Fire is one of the most devastating accidents that can occur and it can wipe out someone’s livelihood, possessions or even life. However it doesn’t need to be this way and with some simple precautions you can fireproof your building and valuables. The following advice outlines some methods in which you can do this with a fireproof safe.

First you should buy a fireproof safe. Not only will you be fireproofing your valuables but you’ll also be protecting yourself from burglars. Depending on what you store inside your fireproof safe you’ll need to think about whether you need a document fireproof safe or a data fireproof safe. Whilst data fireproof safes can hold document as well the same isn’t true the other way around since data is damaged at lower temperatures. Also you’ll need to decide whether you want a floor, wall or freestanding fireproof safe, each coming with its own set of advantages and disadvantages.

Once you’ve chosen your fireproof safe you’ll want to place your valuables inside it using a waterproof bag. This may seem odd since you’re protecting yourself from fire not water so allow me to explain. When a fire occurs the fire brigade will be deployed to the scene and water will be squirted all over the building to put the flames out. Unfortunately for a lot of people their valuables, whilst being protected from the first are then destroyed by the water the gets squirted into the case. This is especially true if you decide to install a floor safe.

For your own personal safety it’s necessary for you to have an escape plan should you need to remove items during a fire. A fireproof portable safe is one solution to this problem. Designed to be carried out of the building during a fire, it’s storage capacity may not be great, however it makes up for this with it’s ease of access. This item is also a great idea for when you’re transporting valuables between locations.

Along with installing a fireproof safe you should definitely implement a regular check up system every couple of months that checks to see that the rest of your house and fire alarm system is working. Break downs in your fireproof system will occur over time so a regular maintenance schedule is necessary.

A wall safe has a couple of advantages over a floor safe. There are 5 factors that make a wall safe better than a floor safe.

When you’re going to buy a wall safe then you should know about the advantages a wall safe has over a floor safe. The following 5 factors will let you know why a wall safe is a better choice for you than a floor safe.

1. Probably the most important factor when you’re buying just about anything? Price. A wall safe is on average cheaper to buy than a floor safe. This is an important factor especially for businesses just starting out because cash can be tight. If you’re looking for an option that gives you more value for money, then the wall safe is the way to security and saving yourself a bit of money as well

2. Another critical point to consider is how easy it is to install your wall safe compared with a floor safe. A floor safe requires you to dig a hole and then once the safe has been placed inside you must pour concrete into the hole to seal it. The process of installing a wall safe on the other hand is far easier as the hole only needs to be cut. If you don’t know what you’re doing in either of these situations then it’s critical that you get these installed by a professional.

3. This may seem obvious but some people seem to overlook that fact that in some buildings you’ll only be able to install a floor safe. If your office is located on the 10th floor of an office tower then you’ll only be able to install a wall safe. Floor safes tend to have a large set of dimensions so they can’t be installed in-between floors and usually can only be installed on the ground floor of a building. Whilst this may seem obvious, you’d be surprised at the number of people who think they can install a floor safe halfway up a building.

4. Have you thought about the other factors such as flooding and the protection that a wall safe provides. If you live in a building that has been flooded even only once in the last 10 or so years, then don’t even consider installing a floor safe. A wall safe is a far better protection solution to this problem and if you can manage to install this wall safe above the ground floor then you’ll be providing even greater security to your valuables.

5. Now how often so you think you’ll need to access your safe? A wall safe is far easier to access than a floor safe so it’s a better option if it’s going to get frequent use. Floor safes often have a small circular shaped canister placed on their tops which reduces the size of the objects in which you can place inside. This also makes it more difficult to retrieve and place items inside the safe in the first. Compared this with a standard wall safe which allows easy standing access and you’ll soon realise why the wall safe is better.

You’re probably wondering how you’re going to buy and install your fireproof safe. Read on and you'll find out how to protect your possessions and valuables.

If you’ve arrived here you’re probably wondering how you’re going to buy and install your fireproof safes. There’s a couple of important things you need to consider before buying anything so read on ahead and I’ll let you know what you need to do.

1. Even if you are going to buy a fireproof safe it’s essential that you have a plan of action if a fire does occur. You will need to know where it is you’ll escape from and what to take with you (portable fireproof safes are perfect for this). It’s also a good idea to get into a daily routine of backing up your essential documents and data and placed them in the fireproof safe before you leave. This means that if a fire does occur whilst you’re away your valuables will be protected.

2. Fireproof safes will protect your valuables from fire for a set amount of time. However the best way to protect your valuables is to not allow the fire to occur in the first place. Install fire alarms that are connected to the emergency services so when they do go off a fire engine will show up. It’s also recommended that you test these every 6 months. Sprinklers are a very effective way of stopping a fire from spreading and should be installed on the ceilings of all your hallways. If you place your doors on a fireproof latch then they will automatically close after each time someone has opened it. This is one of the most effective forms of fire resistance and all your doors should be installed with this.

google_ad_height = 280;

//-->

3. You’ll need to think about what it is you’ll be placing inside your fireproof safe. The place inside your safe will be limited so only place your most valuable items on the inside. Jewelry, expensive watches, cash, documents and data are all good items to store away however important objects such as books or notepads should be left outside your fireproof safe.

4. Have you thought about buying and installing a fireproof wall safe. A fireproof wall safe is one of the most versatile forms of safe available. Not only will you be protecting yourself from burglary and fire buy you’ll also be protecting yourself from flood protection as well. Because your safe is placed in the wall which is raised off the ground if a flood were to occur then the water level is unlikely to rise up and damage your safe as it’s been placed so high off the ground.

Make sure you buy the correct key safe cabinet as many are available including: biometric, electronic, combination, key & lock cabinets.

If you’re interested in buying a key safe cabinet then first of all you need to know that there are many different types of key safe cabinets. I’m going to tell you a little bit about each type and then you’ll be able to make a decision as to what type of key safe cabinet you’ll need.

First of all there’s the traditional lock and key system that most key safe cabinets use. As with most key safe cabinet’s they’re usually made out of steel and are bolted on to the walls by drilling a hole onto the walls surface. The sizes can greatly vary from key safe cabinets which store 10 or so keys well up to key safe cabinets which store several hundred sets of keys. The downsides to this traditional are when a replacement set of keys needs to be made. This is expensive and if you’re in an industry with high employee turnover rates then it will need to be done frequently.

The second style is the combination key safe cabinet. Usually the combination has 4 sets of numbers which are set on a wheel and can be rolled around when entering in the combination. These styles of key safe cabinet security locks are far more preferable to the traditional lock and key system. An employee can’t lose their set of keys, and if they do forget they just need to be reminded of the code. The combination code can be reset monthly or however frequently you wish. Finally as many people as you tell the code to can use the key safe cabinet.

The electronic key safe cabinet which is also known as the digital key safe cabinet is another system that is similar to the combination key safe cabinet. The difference however is that instead of having a wheel with numbers a digital keypad is used instead. This has all the advantages of the combination key safe cabinet and is also easier to access since this locking system uses a keypad. The only downside to the electronic key safe cabinet is if it’s not made to be water resistant then it’s not a very good idea to place it outside.

The biometric key safe cabinet is the most secure type of key safe cabinet of them all. This requires the user to either have a fingerprint, eye or voice scan before the user can have access to the key safe cabinet. These forms of key safe cabinet are extremely rare and are usually only used in advanced scientific experiments and military testing locations.

Finally there’s the portable key safe cabinet. These forms of key safe cabinet are used when moving keys from one location to another. They often come equipped with a glass door so that the handler is able to see which keys are present inside the portable key safe cabinet.

Buying a fire safe is a great idea but you must follow these 5 tips if you want to save money and get the best deals available.

If you’ve decided that buying a fireproof safe is a good idea then you’ve made a great choice and you’ll be ready to start searching online. However before you being you need to consider some of the advice written below. Not only will it gives you tips on choosing the correct fire safe but you’ll also probably end up saving a chunk of money as well.

1. One of the firs things you need to consider is that you when you buy a fire safe you also buy a waterproof bag and place you valuables inside the waterproof bag inside the safe as well. This might seem rather odd if you’re looking to protect yourself from fire and not water so allow me to explain. When the fire services come to you’re building to put out the ifre they’ll be hosing the hole place down with pressurized water. This will be squirted everywhere and will end up hitting your fire safe so you’ll need that waterproof bag for protection from this.

2. You’ll want to get the most expensive safe that money can buy. Why? This is because a fire safe will not last forever and only will have a time limit placed on it. The higher the fireproof rating of the safe the longer it will last. Fire safes will be resistant to fire from 30 minutes all the way up to 4 hours. So you’ll want to get the most expensive fire safe that you can afford to ensure that your valuables will be protected for as long as possible.

3. You don’t just need to have a freestanding fire safe, you can also get wall fire safes and floor fire safes. In many ways these fire safes will be much more resistant to fire than traditional freestanding fire safes. The concrete protects all sides of the fire safe bar one so wall and floor safes have added protection from the concrete. Therefore if you’re looking for added protection from burglary and fires then a wall or floor fire safe is a brilliant choice to make.

4. It’s important that you understand the difference between a document and a data fire safe. A document fire safe should only store papers and cash. It can resist high temperatures and is built to keep the contents inside the safe under 177°C. A data fire safe is built to be even stronger and keeps the temperature inside below 52°C. This needs to be lower as CD’s, DVD’s and tapes are destroyed at a much lower temperature. Therefore whilst data fire safes may be more expensive they do all you to store not only data but documents as well.

5. Most people don’t consider this but have you thought about installing buying a portable fire safe instead. These fire safes can be carried around just like a briefcase and if a fire emergency does occur you can carry the safe with you out of the building.

Floor safes are the strongest forms of security protection. Hidden beneath the ground, they're difficult to find and steal from as well.

When you’ve been in business for a short amount of time and your cash is starting to roll in, installing some security such as floor safes for your business is a very important step. Any sizable and successful business needs a secure place where their cash can be stored and floor safes are the perfect solution to this problem as not only are they strong and durable but they can also be easily hidden. However before you purchase floor safes for your business there are quite a few things you need to know. This article should give you some idea of what you’ll need to consider when expanding to business and installing a floor safe.

The most important factor you need to consider is whether or not you’re ready to purchase a floor safe. You need to make sure you’re making enough money to justify its purchase. Floor safes can be expensive to install so it’s always useful to check your balance sheets first to see whether you’re handling enough cash that warrants a floor safes installation. If you’re still unsure as to whether or not you’re handling enough cash then ask yourself: is the amount of cash I store away less or more expensive than the value of the safe itself. If it’s less more than the value of the safe itself then it’s probably time you started buying a new floor safe.

Another factor when purchasing floor safes is to consider which type of business you’re in as some types of business are typically more vulnerable to break ins and robberies. Common targets include petrol stations, convenience stores, hotels and banks. If you’ve got a business in any one of these industries then it’s highly recommend that you use floor safes to hide your valuables. Burglars commonly target these locations so if a robbery doesn’t happen now it’s likely to happen sometime in the future. However by having floor safes not only will the burglars not know where to find the safes, if they do discover it they’ll be unable to break into it.

Look around at the location your business is in. Is it affluent or poor? Is it in the center of the city with many people about or is it out in the countryside with no one around. A common misconception is that the more secluded the location is then the less likely it will be burgled. Whilst this might be somewhat true it works both ways. Think about this from the criminals perspective, what would be harder to break into: a hotel in the city center surrounded by security cameras and crowds of people or a hotel in the countryside, miles away from any police or other inhabitants? You don’t have to live in Fort Knox to feel secure, however just look at the location you’re in and think about whether or not buying a floor safe would be a good idea.
